Security has been tightened ahead of the IPFT’s Statehood demand day celebration program to be held tomorrow at tribal areas autonomous district council headquarters at Khumulwng.
Police said IPFT had wanted to hold rally as part of the celebration at Agartala but authorities did not allow them to do so in the city considering the previous experience of their hostility and violence during the rally last year. However, IPFT has been allowed to celebrate the day at Khumulwng with certain restriction to maintain peace, said police source.
Besides, state police and armed forces and para military forces a good number of plain clad police has been deployed certain areas where IPFT has presence and possibility of some violence.
Meanwhile, IPFT leaders told that they never indulged any violence in any occasion every time it was done by ruling CPI-M in collaboration with a section of police to malign IPFT to get political mileage. The party has organised several program to host the day but there was a report nefarious plan of ruling CPI-M to create violence during the program.
