Putting risk to the people’s life the Doordarshan Kendra which has its Low Power Transmission (LPT) tower of 30 meters at Amarpur of Gomati District of the state on Wednesday morning fell down and damaged as many as three houses adjacent to it.
The SDM, Amarpur A K Roy informed, “No death or injuries were reported from the incident but it damaged three houses there.”
According to the report the angry mobs also attacked a staff deployed there in the LPT station, but the situation was immediately under control under the deployment of police forces.
The locals complained, “The negligence role of the workers who were actually working on the tower might be as part of maintenance work, the incident took place.”
The incident actually took place after the tower was uprooted from the earth as the nuts were loosened from the base, said SDM.
However, getting an alarm of the incident the top officials of the Doordarshan Agartala along with other state officials rushed to the spot to take a stock of the situation. The incident is also being reported to the Guwahati region Kendra.
It is worthy to mention here that the Doordarshan Delhi Head Office was mulling to withdraw the LPTs from the state of Tripura.
