Keeping parity with previous year’s annual conference of Uchoi community will be organized by Uchoi Ataibang Welfare Society at Barbari under Karbook subdivision on April 20. The conference which was scheduled to organize in February has been postponed due to State Assembly poll.
Uchoi community is the smallest tribal community in Tripura and the population of the community is little more than 4000. The people of the community are staying at 19 paras including Dhepacherra, Taichamapara, Kalacherrapara and Ratanpur.
First conference of Uchoi community was organized in 1979 at Dhepacherra. Meanwhile the preparation of 23rd going on at full swing.
The conference will be held on April 20 and 21. More than 500 delegates will participate in the conference. Some sub committees also formed to execute the conference properly.
Sarpa or Sardar of Uchoi community Eradhan Uchoi said, Tourism minister Pranajit Sinha Roy may remain present as Chief Guest of the conference.
Among others MLAs of Karbook, Amarpur and Srimat Akhsadananda Uchoi (Buddha Vikhsu) will attend the conference.
Meanwhile the organizers are collecting rice from all houses and delegate fee from different houses and subscription from service holders of the community.
Besides, preparation is going on to hold discussion on economic, social, cultural and educational development of the community.
