Acting on secret information police recovered 1600 bottle cough syrup from a Max car at Ambassa today. The market value of the cough syrup is more that Rs.1 lakh.
Sources said that SDPO of Ambassa Asish Dasgupta was waiting at Assam Agartala Road since 6 p.m. today on the basis of secret information. At last the Max car (TR01W1506) arrived there.
Meanwhile police gave signal to stop the car. Observing the signal the driver increased speed of the car and went towards Ambassa. Immediately police vehicle followed the car. Sensing the follow of police the car driver turned the car towards village road of Ambassa Colony. Noticing the police barricade at both sides the car driver fled away by stopping the car in front of Prabir Chakraborty’s house at Sukanta Colony. At the same time the car went out of order as one of its wheel set in the drain.
At last the car detained with contraband items under supervision of SDPO. Immediately CEO of Ambassa Municipal Council Subhabrata Deb conducted search in the car and recovered bottles of cough syrup.
