Vijay Merchant Under 16 Cricket QF: Tripura on their verge of innings defeat

Tripura Under 16 cricket team is fighting hard to avoid innings defeat in the ongoing Vijay Merchant Under 16 cricket tournament. In the ongoing quarterfinal match at the end of day three today Tripura made 99 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.

To avoid innings defeat tomorrow Tripura need another 89 runs while apart from this they have to bat till the end to avoid a certain defeat also. In their first innings Tripura made 197 runs while in reply Punjab made mammoth 385 runs though the runs were very much slow.

From 263/8 today Punjab added further 122 runs before bundled out for 385 runs. For the ninth wicket Anshul Negi and Anurag Wats added crucial 133 runs which was enough to thrash Tripura out from the competition.

Anurag made 67 while Ansul remained unbeaten on 87 from 320 balls with 11 fours. Among the Tripura bowlers Amit Ali picked up 4 wickets while Swarab Sahani and Sahil Sultan picked up 2 wickets each.

In reply at the end of day three Tripura made 99/3. Opener Hrituraj Ghosh Roy (35) and Amit Ali (29) remained unbeaten.
