Two youths from Tripura feared missing in Sikkim tragedy

AGARTALA:

Two young men from Tripura's Kailashahar subdivision in Unakoti district are feared missing following a tragic tourist vehicle accident in Sikkim on May 29 where a vehicle reportedly plunged into the Teesta River.

According to a Tripura government official, who requested anonymity, the incident involved a passenger tourist vehicle accident that veered off the road and fell into the river. Rescue operations are currently underway. The two missing individuals have been identified as Swapnanil Deb (26) and Debajyoti Deb (25), both residents of Kailashahar.

“We have received preliminary information that two youths from Kailashahar may have been on board the ill-fated bus. However, there is no official confirmation yet, as search and rescue efforts are still in progress,” the official said.

He added that the Tripura government is in constant contact with authorities in Sikkim and is also coordinating with the families of the missing youths.
