In a noble move, Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and TRICOS—official brand of the products of Tripura Central Correctional Home, under Directorate of Prisons, have came together and all set to open a bakery-joint at Agartala City Centre.
Reportedly, the shop will be completely managed by one member each of two Self Help Groups (SHGs)—Radhamadhab Dal and Golap Mahila Dal of Udaipur. From sourcing the bakery items from the Jail to selling and profit-loss management all will be managed and accounted by Anuradha and Khaironnissa of Agragami Gramin Samity a Village level organization of TRLM. Notably, both Radhamadhab Dal and Golap Mahila Dal fall under the jurisdiction of Agargami samity.
Speaking to this correspondent, one of the highly placed officials of the department, said, we are trying to promote self-employment avenues basically for women. Since, last four years nearly ninety thousand women of the interior pockets of the state joined hands with TRLM.
Right now, he added, we thought of promoting our work in front of people, so we took some initiatives talked with concerned officials and set the idea rolling. The home department has sponsored the space of the shop. The directorate of prisons is also providing holistic support, he told us.
While asked about experience of the women in bakery field, he said, both of them were trained at “Hotel Ginger”, for a week to feel confident about the business and learn the basics of hospitality. They are right now very much confident to get started with their new venture, he added.
Notably, the shop will be officially launched tomorrow in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devbarma, IG Prison Jaydip Nayak, CEO TRLM Sudhakar Shinde, State Mission Manager TRLM Dipyan Ghosh and other higher officials of the departments.
