The state cabinet on Wednesday gave a nod to implement the Chief Minister’s Tribal Development Mission for the upliftment of the socio-economic status of the indigenous tribes of Tripura.
Addressing a press conference here in the conference hall of the secretariat, the state cabinet spokesperson and minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, “Rs. 30 crores is sanctioned for the first Financial Year for the implementation of the scheme called CM’s TDM, which aims to enhance the income of Tribals in Tripura through livelihood activities.”
“Under this scheme, every tribals families of the state will be registered with the department of Tribal Welfare department and accordingly the beneficiaries will be provided with the support from the government for their livelihood earnings,” he said, adding that the tribal youths will be trained with skill development with a special focus on job orientation.
He said, “Government has given top most priority in upgrading the socio-economic status of the indigenous tribes of the state and accordingly the department will work on this. The CM’s TDM will help in boosting the infrastructural development in the tribal dominated areas of the state.”
