TRIPURA: BSF jawan on election duty dies after rifle accidently goes off

In a tragic incident amid the preparation for the second phase of polling in Tripura, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, who was engaged in election duty died after his rifle went off accidentally.

The incident took place on Wednesday night, while the jawan identified as 27-year-old Rakesh Nargis Keshav of Latur in Maharashtra was on board a bus carrying other forces to reach the polling location.

The bus traversed the new bridge construction site on the Mizoram-Tripura highway, situated near a petrol pump and later when the bus navigated through an alternate road, which was left in deplorable condition due to road construction work, the BSF jawan’s rifle accidentally discharged fire, where he died.

The body of the deceased jawan was immediately rushed to Kanchanpur District Hospital for an autopsy.
