Toyota ride for Lord Jagannath as Tripura celebrates Rath yatra festival

AGARTALA:

Tripura on Tuesday celebrated Rath Yatra festival the grand annual festival symbolizing harmony amid COVID-19 pandemic with Lord Jagannath taking a ride of luxirious Toyota car.

This pandemic what attracted the people of this state most is the luxurious chariot of Lord Jagannath. Lord Jagannath is arried though a Toyota 4 wheeler vehicle instead of the traditional vehicle used as chariot.

This could be witnessed today at Agartala Iskcon temple from where the Lord Jagannath is brought outside with full devotion and abiding by the rituals and put in a 4 wheeler private vehicle to mark Rath Yatra festival. According to the concerned authority of the temple this is done to avoid mass gathering which is usually witnessed every year.

This year the festival is celebrated maintaining a social distance and with restrictions of large gathering of devotees due to the pandemic.

Though the main function of this festival is celebrated in a grand manner here at Agartala Jagannathbari temple, the rituals are performed in various parts of this state.

However, Puri's famous Rath Yatra began this morning as a large number of priests and temple attendants gathered at the Jagannath Temple without devotees in a historic first, a day after the Supreme Court allowed Odisha to hold the seven-day chariot festival in a restricted fashion amid India's fight against coronavirus.
