The Superintendent of Police of West Tripura district has suspended one police sub-inspector (SI) for “neglect of duty” in connection with the murder of Nakul Saha. Saha was murdered and six of his family members were injured during an attack by two brothers at Navin Tilla area recently.
It was informed that the Sub Inspector was suspended for “releasing” an arrested accused. Soon after the crime was committed, hundreds of local villagers rushed to the spot and rescued all the injured persons.
The villagers also managed to detain the prime accused Sunil alias Sanjib Das from the spot and they handed over him to the police personnel of Amtali police station. It was informed that the Sub-Inspector (SI) Maman Ulla Kaji had arrested the accused person on Sunday night but he was later released without following protocol.
However, BJP MLA Ramprasad Pal while visiting the affected family members of deceased Nakul Saha on Wednesday said his party on behest of the family members has demanded for strictest punishment against the accused person.
Meantime, reacting on former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's statement of deteriorating law and order situation, the BJP MLA Ramprasad Pal today said, Manik Sarkar has visited the family members to take a political mileage, whereas the BJP shall not entertain any kind of politics with this incident.
Manik Sarkar on Tuesday last have visited the injured persons in Agartala GBP Hospital and accused the BJP government of instigating such violence across the state.
