Strong rooms kept under strict surveillance

A strict eye vigil is being kept across the strong rooms at Umakanta School to maintain transparency for free and fair election. It is to be mentioned here that the EVMs are kept in the strong rooms of Umakanta School.

The security personnel’s are keeping a strong eye to avoid any kind glitches ahead of the counting. The Control Units and Ballot Units meant for keeping the election materials are kept in strong room under proper escort and will be guarded 24 X 7. 

Voting in 59 seats of Tripura's 60-seat assembly began at 7 am on Sunday. Polling in Charilam constituency was postponed to March 12 after the death of Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI (M) candidate Ramendra Narayan Debbarma.

The Election Commission had set up 3,174 polling stations in Tripura; 47 of them were managed by women. A total of 292 candidates, including 23 women, fought the closely-watched contest yesterday. Voter turnout till now (around 9 pm) was recorded at 78.56 per cent, the Election Commission said. However, the counting will be done of March 3rd.
