Sonamura police today arrested one Abdul Khalek (24), who is suspected to be the prime accused in the minor girl rape case reported yesterday.
Reportedly, Khalek absconded right after the incident, police nabbed him from secret his hide-out. The vehicle used in the crime was also seized.
Speaking to this website, SDPO Sonamura, Souvik Dey said, the police successfully arrested the prime accused and the vehicle used in the crime was also seized.
“As per the primary reports, the arrested person is identified as Abdul Khalek (24). We are verifying the documents regarding his identification. He used to stay in Qatar and returned home a few months back. The black Maruti Alto used in the crime also belonged to him” Dey told this newsman over the phone.
He also added that the vehicle was re-purchased by Khalek and pertaining documents had been sought from the District Transport Officer for the inquiry. He would be produced before the Court tomorrow.
