We are trying to do everything which are necessary to develop sports infrastructure of the state, said Sports minister Sahid Choudhury while laying foundation stone 200 bedded Youth Hostel at Ambassa yesterday.
It will fulfill a long pending demand of the district which people demanded after introduction of District Sports department and indoor hub. Earlier Sports minister assured the dwellers of Ambassa to set up Youth Hostel at Dhalai District Head Quarter.
An amount of Rs 10.36 crore will be spent to construct the two storied Youth Hostel. On the same day Sports minister handed over charge of construction to the contractor who got the contract after calling tender.
Local MLA, Sabhadhipati and Chairman of Ambassa Municipal Council were present during laying of foundation stone.
Speaking on the occasion Sports minister said, once Dhalai district was the remote and backward district of the state. At present the district has no lack of sports person. But it was hard to provide them training with efficiency by staying at hostel. So I accepted the demand of setting up Youth Hostel here. We expect that providing training with efficiency would be possible after completion of the building within one year.
Referring the State Government wants to reach efficient sports persons in the country level competition he said that the works of ultramodern stedium construction is on the verge of completion in Dhalai.
