In an incident some miscreants looted about Rs. 70,000 from a woman following her from bank who withdrew the amount from two banks at Khowai today.
Sources said that Sebika Saha (Paul) wife of Shekhar Paul withdrew Rs. 80,000 from SBI, Khowai Branch at 11 a.m. and she again withdrew Rs. 14,000 from Bandhan Bank today. Then she paid Rs. 25,000 to a person from whom she borrowed the amount.
Later she went to Post Office near Khowai Court to deposit the remaining amount. But the post office closed in the meantime. Then she started for her house at Lalcherra by riding an e-rickshaw.
On the way one youth boarded on the e- rickshaw. Later on a number less bike stopped the e-rickshaw when it entered to Lalcherra. The bike rider talked with tom tom driver in Hindi language.
In the meantime the youth who was boarded on e-rickshaw snatched the money bag from Sebika Saha and fled away by riding behind the bike rider.
On hearing cry of the woman some people rushed to the spot. But the miscreants fled away in the meantime.
Meanwhile the woman filed a complaint at Khowai Police Station. During investigation the woman identified the youth from CC TV footage who was following her at the time of withdrawal of money at SBI. But police failed to arrest anyone till the last report came in.
