While the state of Tripura preparing for the counting of polls to the 2 parliamentary constituencies, the Returning Officer of the West Tripura Parliamentary Seat Dr Vishal Kumar on Tuesday visited the string room here at Agartala Umakanta Academy and checked the security arrangement.
The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and VVPAT machines of the 14 assembly segments of West Parliamentary Constituency are kept in the strong room.
Visiting the strong room, the RO and also the District Magistrate of the West Tripura District Dr Vishal Kumar said that a three-layer security arrangement has been put in place with the CRPF jawans guarding the strong room. In addition to this CCTV surveillance with live monitoring system is also put in place to keep a close watch on movement of EVMs in the strong room and other movements, he told reporters.
On the other hand, the RO said that arrangements are being made for the vote counting to be held on June 4 next. He said preparation is underway to ensure smooth and peaceful counting.
Polling for the West Parliamentary Constituency was held on April 19 in the first phase, while polling for the East Parliamentary Constituency was held on April 26 last.
