As the Durga Puja season is round the corner, preparations of city based clubs and Puja organizers have started taking pace since the very beginning of this month.
In days count, the biggest festival of the state is less than that of a month ahead. And, the big-ticket organizers such as Chatrabandhu club, Netaji Play Forum Center, Deshabandhu Chittaranjan Club etc have already started erecting pandals whereas, almost all the middle and small level organizers have also completed “Khuti Puja”—a ritual performed in the beginning of Puja Pandal.
Like every year, the special attraction of the Puja remained Bharat Ratna Sangha, located at Ushabazar. They maintained their grandeur but revealed nothing about their theme or pandal model.
On other hand, other big ticket Puja organizers also remained tight lipped to reveal anything about their Puja theme or the pandal construction.
However, in terms of security arrangements, police station level meetings have been completed already. And, the state level meeting of the Puja organizers has been convened at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan today.
Meanwhile, the garments shops and shopping malls of the city have also started listing special offers and sale ahead of the Puja. According to the garment traders, most of the shops have already started showing up new designs and special Puja offers, the footfalls of customers is yet to take pick. “The footfall of customers is still less and we expecting that it will pick up by next week” a city based shop owner told this newsman.
