Pradyot says no to 'Twipra Land' demand stresses on CAB oppose

AGARTALA:

The Tripura's royal scion Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman who has been constantly opposing the CAB from getting it passed in the parliament on Thursday urged upon the section of tribal leaders and representing regional political party in Tripura to step away from their separate state demand and get united to oppose the CAB at this moment.

Pradyot said, "Separate state demand shall not serve the purpose of indigenous people of this state who are to face hurdle once the CAB is implemented after getting it passed in the ongoing parliament session."

Meantime, Pradyot today opposed the Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, Biswajit Daimary's demand of Union Territory for the indigenous people of the state of Tripura. Maharaja explained, "Union Territory in Tripura shall lower the tribal reservation from 31 per cent to 7.5 to facilitate the people from other states depriving the tribals in Tripura."

However, citing the example of the erstwhile kingdom of Tripura, Daimary lamented that the indigenous tribals have become a minority, and their very existence is at stake.
