The police on patrolling from Kailashahar Police Station seized 517 Kg ganja from a car at Kamrangabari at wee hours of night yesterday. The worth of the ganja is near about Rs. 50 lakh.
Police arrested three persons in connection with ganja smuggling. For the first time such huge amount of ganja seized from Kailashahar.
Sources said that police noticed a Maruti Eco car was coming at high speed towards Kamrangatali Bridge. Immediately police stopped it and detained the car. Police recovered 517 Kg packed ganja along with three persons from the car. Police brought the car at Kailashahar Police Station in the morning today.
Speaking to media SP of Unakoti district Lucky Chowhan said, three persons along with driver have been arrested. Meanwhile Kailashahar Police Station informed media that two persons were arrested.
Police brought two persons Biswajit Das and Dipak Das in front of media. It seems that police suppressed name of another arrested person which created a doubt. Police will start interrogation to know who were involved and where the ganja was being smuggled.
