Police succeeded to recover two stolen bikes and six bike lifters after theft of two bikes from Ambassa yesterday.
Sources said that a contingent of police led by OC of Ambassa Police Station Babul Das and SI Sujit Barman recovered two bikes which were stolen from two houses at Lalcherri and Chandraicherra respectively. They also caught six bike lifters who are the dwellers of Lalcherri area and all are student of St. Aranlods School managed by missionaries.
The thieves are Dainyaram Reang (17), Arunjoy Reang (20), Minajoy Reang (16), Kiran Kanta Reang (14), Bimal Halam (15) and Ajit Halam (14). Among them all are minor except one.
Sources said that each and every member of the theft gang is belonging to very poor family. They decided to steal the bike as they could not get fund for their requirement.
Even a boy adjacent to the house of Sushil Debbarma was included in the gang of 6 members. Debbarma is a driver of DM office. Sunil said six youths fled away by lifting bike from his veranda and all the boys are student of renowned school. Information revealed that all the youths are involved with addiction.
