Police administration has taken special steps to maintain peace, law and order at Unakoti district during the days of Saradiya Durgapuja, said SP of Unakoti district Lucky Chowhan at a press conference here today.
He said, “Registered number of puja in Unakoti district is 175 this year. Out of the number 56 puja organized at Kailashahar. Police picket will be set up at 66 places to maintain security during festival. Besides 44 Mobile patrolling parties will continue service during the days of puja. The security personnel have been divided into six sectors. A total of 32 Traffic posts and 17 Watch Towers will be set up at different places. Despite this CC camera will be installed at 6 spots of the subdivision.
Some civil dressed police will also be engaged in duty. Drop gate will be set up at nine places of the town to control movement of vehicle in the town. The vehicles will not be allowed to enter inside the area of drop gate after 5 p.m. The vehicles will be allowed to make entry in the town after reducing gathering of devotees.”
SP Chowhan also appealed all to refrain from use of contraband items during the days of puja. He also advised the club authorities to keep volunteers to maintain discipline at puja pandals.
