For the first time a National seminar on “Right to Information Act in Indian Democracy: Conception, Perception and Future Road Map” inaugurated at AMBS College of Amarpur within 30 years of since foundation of the college.
Professor of Department of Political Science Dr. Chandrika Basu Majumder from Tripura University inaugurated the seminar by lighting lamp yesterday in presence of Professor Biswanath Chakraborty, Department of Political Science from Rabindra Bharati University.
Principal of the college Dr. Sankar Bhattacharjee presided over the programme. Besides, Chairman of Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Tarun Chakraborty also attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion convener of the seminar Dr. Pradip Dutta said, altogether 60 papers submitted in the seminar from the state and out of the state. Different speakers from Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Assam and West Bengal participated in the seminar.
Principal Dr. Sankar Bhattacharjee delivered the welcome address. He said, teachers and students of the college will be benefited from different sides by the seminar.
Speaking on the occasion Professor Biswanath Chakraborty expressed happiness for organizing such seminar in remote areas. Referring such seminar should be village oriented he said, understanding RTI Act by tribal and non tribal people is very important.
Participating in the discussion different speakers said, the act is getting importance at some states while people are being harassed by the Act in different states. They stressed on implementation of the act for political, economic and social development of the country. Professor Basu Majumder stressed on increasing implementation of the act to eradicate corruption and women related crimes.
