Musth fight ends a jumbo life

AGARTALA:

A Musth fight between two elephants ended in a tragic note as one of the elephant died after falling in under construction culvert adjacent to national highway 8 at Shidangcherra area of Kumarghat.

Reportedly, the elephant (Fulmala) that breathed its last was a female of 40 years.

Reportedly, both the elephants were escorted by Mahout Mukit Miah towards the workplace under the supervision of the forest department.

According to Mukit’s statement, the situation turned bad between both jumbos while crossing the railway tracks. The male jumbo out of its aggression chased the female and the latter fall into the half done culvert in its attempt to safeguard itself.

Mohout Mukit Miah also sustained injuries in the process. He had been shifted to Kailashahar district hospital.

As per forest department sources, the current price of the elephant was Rs 32 lakh.
