The state agriculture and farmers welfare minister Ratan Lal Nath on Sunday inaugurated the state’s mango festival at Gandacherra in Dhalai district.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said that cultivation of mango and its different variety in large number at Gandacherra will enhance tourism as the mangos which are being produced here in large number are of foreign varieties apart from the locals.
The minister Ratan Lal Nath on Sunday announced establishment of solar-based mini cold storage and the installation of solar water pumps on 1.98 acres of land in the Gandatwisa sub-division of Dhalai District exclusively for mango cultivators.
He said, “Our government is focused on making the farmers of the state self-reliance. In addition to this the government is also focused on doubling the farmers’ income and enhances the agriculture sector of the state.”
“Fruits like Queen and Kew variety of pineapples are being exported abroad from Tripura. In addition to this we are also exporting lemon, ginger and turmeric in other parts of the country and abroad,” he said, adding that the government is working to ensure that the farmers of Tripura get a good price for their productions.
