Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the welfare of veterans, the Indian Army organised an Ex-Servicemen Outreach Program at Agartala Military Station on Saturday. The event saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 300 veterans, including Veer Naris and war widows, hailing from the districts of Gomti, North, South, West Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai, and Khowai.
The outreach initiative aimed to address a wide range of issues faced by ex-servicemen, including pension-related concerns, documentation, and administrative discrepancies. The program also served as a vital platform to disseminate updated information on welfare schemes and policies introduced by the Government of India and Army headquarters.
To ensure the swift redressal of grievances, several facilitation cells were established, including a job enrollment cell for retired personnel seeking employment opportunities. An Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) medical assistance cell, staffed by trained healthcare personnel, was also set up to offer health check-ups, distribute medicines, and provide medical aid—especially benefiting veterans residing in remote locations.
The Station Commander personally interacted with the veterans and families of the fallen, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their service and sacrifice. In his address, he lauded the invaluable contributions of ex-servicemen to nation-building and praised their unwavering dedication and experience, which continue to inspire the younger generation.
The event stood as a testament to the Indian Army’s deep-rooted sense of responsibility towards its veteran community. It highlighted the enduring spirit of camaraderie, dignity, and solidarity that forms the cornerstone of the Indian Armed Forces’ ethos.
