The Centre has sanctioned an additional Rs 288.93 crore to Tripura under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) as an aid to recover from the devastating floods that struck in August 2024.
The floods, triggered by incessant monsoon rains in the previous year, left thousands of people displaced, severely impacted infrastructure, and caused extensive damage to agricultural lands and livelihoods.
The High-Level Committee (HLC), under the Chairmanship of the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, has approved Rs.1554.99 crore of additional Central assistance under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to five States including Tripura, affected by flood, flash flood, landslides, cyclonic storm during year 2024.
Chief Minister Dr Saha took to social media to express his gratitude to the Centre stating that this additional central assistance will definitely be a boon to the disaster-affected people in the state.
“The Rs 288.93 Crores allocated to #Tripura will undoubtedly help the state to achieve the developmental goals left out due to the #TripuraFloods2024,” he added.
He said, “I wholeheartedly thank Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji & Hon’ble HM Amit Shah Ji for always being with Tripura.”
