At least two Primary Health Centers of Unakoti district are going on without doctor. Besides, there is no doctor at 5 departments of Unakoti District Hospital. At present one each doctor is providing service at Pediatric, Gynecology and Medicine department.
In such a situation the patients are going through a miserable condition. Meanwhile Medical Officer Dr. Ranjan Biswas appealed to Director of Health to solve the crisis of doctors.
Sources said that Dr. Shekhar Sarkar got posting at CMO office. But he had been transferred to District Hospital within few days. In the meantime the only doctor of Kanchanbari PHC has been transferred to Kanchanpur. But no doctor has been sent to the vacant post.
Besides, Dr. Pritam Das has been transferred to District Hospital from Halaicherra. Dr. Debadriti Ghosh was posted at the PHC. At present she has been transferred to South district as her husband is DM of South district.
Dr. Ria Bhadra of Samarurpar PHC has gone to leave for one month for the purpose of her marriage ceremony. But no doctor has been provided in the PHC.
An Ayurvedic doctor is rendering service at Murabari PHC while the PHC has infrastructure of allopathic treatment. Dr. Satyajit Dutta is providing service alone at Dhanbilas Kanika Memorial PHC while Dr. Pallabi Dey is on leave for treatment of her mother in Chennai.
At present medical service at District Hospital is disturbing seriously while more than 100 patients are admitted at the hospital. Meanwhile local people raised demand to increase number of doctor at Unakoti district.
