Job crisis looms large in NE India, says Rahul Gandhi in Tripura

AGARTALA /Khumulwng:

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of destroying 1 crore jobs in 2018 alone despite promising to create 2 crore jobs annually.

Addressing an election rally in Tripura's ADC headquarter - Khumulwng, Mr Gandhi said the job losses under the Modi government were to the tune of 30,000 per day through 2018.

He said, "PM Modi failed generate employment for the unemployed youths of this country, rather jobs were scrapped for the last 5 years. Job crisis looms large in the Northeastern region of the country."

"In 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi destroyed 1 crore jobs in the country. This is the scale of his incompetence. It is absurd and ridiculous that the PM promises giving 2 crore jobs," Mr Gandhi alleged.

Rahul Gandhi said there is a dire need to solve the job crisis in India, especially in the north-eastern states.

Gandhi further criticised PM Modi for hastily announcing demonetisation and said the prime minister does not understand economics.

"There's no thinking behind demonetisation, it's pure mediocrity. Mr. Modi does not have an understanding of what economics is," Gandhi said.
