IMD issues yellow, orange alert for Tripura; predicts heavy to heavy rainfall from May 1

AGARTALA:

In a major relief for the people of the state of Tripura from the intense heat wave, the India Meteorological Department predicted heavy to heavy rainfall activities over the major parts of the state from May 1 to May 3 next.

According to the IMD report, heavy Rainfall (7-11 cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur from May to May 2 next over North, Unakoti and Dhalai districts of the state. Thunderstorms with lightning and Gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places over North, Unakoti and Dhalai Districts.

From May 2 to May 3, heavy Rainfall (7-11 cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur over South and Sepahijala Districts along with thunderstorms with lightning and Gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph.

Issuing an orange alert, the IMD predicted heavy (7-11 cm in 24 hours) to Very Heavy Rainfall (11-20 cm in 24 hrs) is very likely to occur over Gomati, West, North, Khowai, Unakoti and Dhalai Districts along with Thunderstorm with lightning and Gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph.
