Heavy rain on Wednesday caused significant damage in Tripura, with 25 houses damaged and 12 people seeking shelter in relief camps.
According to a report from the State Emergency Operation Centre, the Khowai district's Teliamura area saw one house completely destroyed and three others partially damaged. In the Gomati district's Karbook area, three landslides were reported in Chelagang Mahadev Para, Bairagi Dukan Mantri Das Para, and Ramchandra. These landslides were cleared by the PWD and Forest Department. Additionally, six houses were partly damaged, and 16 houses were severely damaged.
Belonia, Sabroom and Santirbazar sub-divisions also experienced landslides and uprooted trees, which are being cleared by PWD, SDRF and Fire Services and Emergency officials.
The report indicated that major rivers in Tripura, including Howrah, Khowai, and Gomati, are flowing below expected flood levels. However, the Muhuri River in the South District has crossed the danger level and the Feni River in the same district has surpassed the expected level.
A warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning likely to occur at isolated places across all districts of Tripura. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Khowai, Dhalai, Sepahijala, and West Districts, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated at isolated places in South and Gomati Districts.
