The High Court of Tripura today directed the Brick Klin owners—Tripura Brick Manufacturers Association to possess all the necessary documents needed for resumption of manufacturing in the units, Advocate General Arun Kanti Bhowmik told the media today.
Speaking to this correspondent, he said, unless the brick-kiln owners acquire NOCs from green tribunal they cannot resume manufacturing. Hearing a petition filed by the Tripura Brick Manufacturers Association Tripura High Court division Bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Arindam Lodh observed that any breach of law from the part of brick kiln owners could not be tolerated and if they wish to resume manufacturing they have to take all the permissions abiding the High Court previous order. The Bench also ruled that the intention of the High Court is to ensure righteous way of brick manufacturing but harassing the owners, Bhowmik told this correspondent.
“Already notices have been served to all the brick kiln owners to appear before the Court. But, many owners still did not respond to the Court notices. In the next hearing, all the brick manufacturers have been asked to remain present” the Advocate General said.
He also informed this reporter that hundreds of brick kilns owners have already applied for NOCs and are proceeding as per the High Court direction. On the other hand, there were a large number of owners who are yet to apply for the clearances.
