The condition of tea workers has not changed even after change of power in the state. From information it revealed that Left Front Government had not worked for development of tea labourers except making vote bank. The tea workers expected that their condition will change during the administration of BJP- IPFT Government. But the owners of the garden are still continuing exploitation on workers.
Meanwhile Chairman of TIDC Tinku Roy rushed to Sarala Tea Garden on being informed about providing 8 percent bonus to workers instead of 20 percent. Tinku Roy rushed to the tea garden on being informed about discontent of workers on bonus. He talked with manager over phone and instructed to provide 20 percent bonus. The manager gave word that he would fulfill all pending demands of the workers.
Meanwhile TIDC Chairman Tinku Roy said that the tea gardens are on verge of closure. The labourers are leaving the gardens. At the same time the state government has adopted some plan to save the gardens and protect interest of labourers while the owners are running in loss. Criticizing the previous government for the present condition he said that the government would take some measures immediately to save the labourers from deprivation.
