Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today said that the state government is constructing food warehouses at various places to strengthen the public distribution system as well as to increase the food stock across the state.
Speaking at a program, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Chowdhury said that the present government is working with the aim of smoothening and accelerating the development of the tribal areas of the state.
“Our state government is constructing food warehouses at various places to strengthen the public distribution system as well as to increase the food stock across the state. As a part of this, today we officially inaugurated a newly constructed 500 metric ton capacity food warehouse under the supervision of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs at Srinagar in Sabroom Sub-division. People from all parts of the area will benefit in many ways due to the construction of this food warehouse”, said the minister.
He said that all types of food grains including rice can be stored here and by keeping quality control for a long time and storing rice and other food grains here, it will be possible to reach different areas according to demand from time to time.
“This new food warehouse will play a special role in increasing the stock of food grains in the entire Sabroom division”, said the minister.
Today's inauguration ceremony was attended by other distinguished guests, including MLA Mylaphru Mog, Former MLA Shankar Roy, Chairperson of Poang Bari Panchayat Samiti Mani Bala Vaidya (Datta), South Tripura Zilla Parishad Member Shankar Bhowmik, District Magistrate of South Tripura District and, Additional Director of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Animesh Debbarma and others were present.
