Govt declares no-entry zones for Agartala-Akhaura Railway Line Construction

AGARTALA:

The state government has declared no-entry zones along the Agartala-Akhaura railway line section slated to commence construction from October 01.

The ambitious project, a collaborative effort between India and Bangladesh, aims to enhance regional trade and strengthen bilateral ties.

The designated no-entry zones, encompassing Point No. 1 Badharghat, Point No. 2 TV Tower Crossing and Point No. 3 Siddhi Ashram Crossing will remain restricted to vehicular movement from October 1, 11 pm to 5 am of 2nd October and subsequently from 11 pm of 2nd October to 5 am of 3rd October.

These measures are implemented in accordance with a notification issued by the District Magistrate of West District under Sections 115 and 116 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Furthermore, a controlled restriction will be imposed on the movement of heavy vehicles through Point No. 4 Amtali Bypass, ensuring a smooth and secure construction process.

The notification explicitly exempts emergency vehicles from these restrictions assuring uninterrupted access for critical services during the specified periods.

American prelate Robert Prevost elected New Pope

The Chicago-born Prevost, 69, a member of the Augustinian order and who had served extensively in Peru, was Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America since 2023. He was appointed to the posts by Pope Francis, who elevated him as a Cardinal.
