In a bizarre incident, dead body of a six year old girl child was recovered from a tea garden canal somewhere at the Dharmanagar today triggering tension throughout the region.
Locals suspect the child was killed after being raped. Reportedly, the girl was abducted from her house yesterday afternoon. Her parents searched her everywhere on the village and the nearby areas. Subsequently, this morning some of the passer-by spotted the dead body of the child lying open at a nearby tea garden canal.
Police sources said that preliminary investigation suggested that the girl was strangled to death in order to conceal culprits' identity.
SDPO Dharmanagar Rajeev Sutradhar said, “we get the information that a dead body of a child has been spotted somewhere in our jurisdiction and accordingly police team was sent to verify the news. As per the preliminary investigation and evidences that we have collected from the crime scene, the girl was abducted and murdered. There are also possibilities of physical assault and rape but we have to wait for the medical reports for confirmation.”
