At a time when the cyclone ‘Midhili’ triggered havoc across the state of Tripura on Friday, the farmers in different parts of the state incurred huge loss after their agricultural lands were swamped with the torrential rain, which accompanied the gusty wind since Friday morning.
A major section of ripe paddy fields in different parts of the state were found damaged on Saturday morning, while the farming land of various seasonal vegetables were toppled to the ground, which submerged under the flooded water.
The distressed farmers however sought the intervention of the officers of the concerned agriculture department to seek a helping hand for them.
With cyclone Midhili weakening into a depression, Tripura and Mizoram, which were battered by heavy rain the previous day, did not experience showers on Saturday.
According to the latest IMD (India Meteorological Department) update, the cyclonic storm, after crossing the Bangladesh coast, weakened into a deep depression, and later into a depression, and lay 50 km east-southeast of Tripura's capital Agartala.
