Crime against women has declined by 12 percent: Barnali Goswami

Tripura Women Commission chairperson Barnali Goswami in a press meet claimed that the crime rate against the women has come down by 12 percent in the state. The figure of crime against women will come down to zero in the coming days, added Tripura Women Commission chairperson Barnali Goswami.

Talking to media, Tripura Women Commission chairperson Barnali Goswami further stated that since the formation of the new TCW on July 09 last year, at least  558 people have registered a case with us, and 377 sou-moto cases have been were registered by the Commission. She also stated that counseling was done for 1,250 cases in last year, of which over 50 per cent case was disposed post counseling, she added.  

As a part of the new initiative by the Tripura Women Commission, the staffs and the members will visit from house to house and will enquire about the status of the women. A kind of initiative was also carried out at Teliamura Mutukchara Village and was successful. Tripura Women commission will pay strict attention to the beliefs of superstitions, witch killing and other social evil. On the other hand, Social Welfare and Social education minister also held a telephonic conversation with Tripura Women Commission chairperson and suggested to conduct awareness camps.
