In a bid to eliminate the establishments serving unhygienic food, the state food safety department looks set to announce ‘Clean Street Food Hub’ here at Agartala and ensure that the food lovers are served with quality food.
Addressing a press conference here in the conference hall of DM office on Wednesday, the District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan said, “Primarily we are looking set to announce clean street food hub for the existing food vendors here at Agartala City Centre area.”
He said that the department had made necessary assessments and evaluations of the street food establishments in the location and accordingly the vendors were imparted training. Based on the report, the department will soon announce the location as clean street food hub.
“We have inspected at least 26 establishments of restaurants and sweet shops here at Agartala to oversee their process of making or preparing food as part our food safety drive. We found some shortcomings during our inspection and accordingly we made them aware of the measures to be taken,” he told reporters, adding that the surveillance will be continued in wake of the upcoming festivals in the state.
