BSF-BGB exchange sweets in Tripura border on R-day

AGARTALA:

A day before the 71st Republic Day of India, the Border Security Force (BSF) Friday exchanged sweets with the counterpart Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) here at the bordering areas of the state.

Followed by the beating retreat ceremony the BSF at Agartala Akhaura Check Post exchanged sweets with it's counterpart of BGB assuming significance as it shows goodwill between both the nations.

Officials of 120 battalions of Border Security Force (BSF) gave sweet boxes to officials of 25 battalion Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

BGB officer Jahangir Alam said, "This is to enhance bilateral relations the exchange of sweets between India and Bangladesh along the border in Tripura border is an old and traditional gesture to show goodwill between the two nations and has been in practice for many years now."

BSF and BGB exchange sweets and greetings on several occasions including Diwali, Eid, Holi, Independence Day.
