Inaugurating the Police week in Tripura’s Arundhutinagar Police Parade Ground Thursday, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb claimed that state police have come into obligation and discipline. He claimed, “Police have been released from all kinds of political influence which resulted the police action more active than before towards punishing the accused persons in different cases.”
“The rule of law has been established in the state,” adding to this Mr. Deb said, “In the last 20 months, 987 cases have been registered of which a total of 4999 accused persons have been arrested.” He said, “Now the police do not have to go door to door to file an FIR. Police have been able to arrest the accused within three to five days of investigating crimes committed by women.”
Mr. Deb who also holds the home portfolio today said, “Earlier police were not lead to work independently due to political influences across the state.” He said Tripura witnessed a major change in the police administration during the 20 months rule of the BJP lead coalition government.
Meantime, the Chief Minister said, “Since his government assumed office, a change in mindset has come about and police personnel are now recovering cannabis, brown sugar and other contraband items every other day in some part of Tripura.”
However, on the occasion of Police Week Parade-2020 at Agartala the Chief Minister distributed various awards among the dedicated officials of Tripura Police. A large number of spectators, serving and Retired Police Officers, Members of Police Family gathered in the Stadium to witness the Parade.
