Assam former CM rules out Sonowal’s talk on NE development

AGARTALA:

The chief minister of neighbouring Assam Sarbananda Sonowal who arrived here at the state on Wednesday to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has assured, “If BJP forms government in Tripura, it shall jointly work with Assam for the development of Northeastern region of the country.”

Interestingly, ruling out Sonowal’s assurance today the former chief minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi who also arrived here in the state today to campaign for the congress alleged, “The BJP is simply branding and marketing to influence people.”

He further alleged, “The ruling CPI-M in Tripura and the BJP at the centre and other states are deep necked in corruption.”

“BJP’s last in the Northeastern region shall end very soon as it failed to meet the people’s expectations,” alleged Gogoi.

Gogoi was addressing a press conference today at Agartala Congress Bhawan.
