Agartala Municipal Corporation has decided to prepare 10,000 cotton masks following the guidelines of government of India through women Self Help Groups.
Each of the women stitching a mask will get a monetary benefit of Rs 10 for one mask, Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha said today.
Addressing a Press conference here in the AMC conference hall, he said, “We have decided to prepare 10,000 double-layer cotton masks through the SHGs. The masks will be distributed among all the frontline workers of the AMC in view of the Novel Corona Virus outbreak”.
He also spoke about a range of initiatives undertaken by the AMC to combat the Corona pandemic.
“We have also decided in our MIC meeting to provide a monetary incentive of Rs 1,000 to each of the door to door garbage collectors”, he said.
The AMC is also doing the following works soon after the lockdown came into being. Daily disinfection of all public places, markets, ATMs, bus shelters, hospitals, petrol pumps, slums, etc. using 08-09 big vehicles on bigger roads and using 92 backpack spray. Free cooked food distribution to about 1000 persons every day. One week free dry ration distribution to about 2800 stranded migrant laborers and others without ration cards. For welfare of AMC sanitation workers and other casual workers working in field considering their invaluable service, an honorarium of Rs 100 per day each day for next 21 days lockdown.
A number of tax resumption has been also put in place so that people do not suffer in the time of this global crisis.
