Former MP and President of GMP, opposition CPIM’s tribal wing, has on today asserted that the party would leave no stone unturned to return in the ADC slated to go to polls next year. Speaking to this correspondent, Chowdhury said, ADC is a result of prolonged struggle of the communist leaders in the hills and we as a ruling party in the ADC are ready to put forth a befitting fight to the BJP, IPFT and Congress.
His comments came at the very point of time when the Left is going through an existence crisis with subsequent poor results in the Lok Sabha and Panchayat elections. The party which ruled the state for 4 consecutive terms appeared to have bit dust in a row in the recently concluded Lok Sabha and Panchayat elections.
Justifying the repeated poll debacles, he reasoned that the Lok Sabha elections were an “accident” and the Panchayat elections were marred by large-scale semi-Faciest violence triggered by the party in power—BJP . But, he claimed that such a scenario would never repeat in case of ADC elections.
However, the CPIM party after being dethroned by the BJP-IPFT coalition in the last assembly elections, seemed to have lost its ground. According to the political experts, the previously ruling party has ostensibly lost its grip over the rural pockets of the state and chances of revival from this stage require huge ground work and people’s support.
“As far as the party’s preparations are concerned, already state level leaders have started visiting the rural pockets of the state in a bid to reconnect with the people. The party has also chalked out plans to form greater coordination with people social media and man-to-man contact. The CPIM party has resorted to the strategy that led it to victory in the initial stage so that it can manage to reorganize the party with a well-equipped cadre base” a senior party leader informed this newsman in the condition of anonymity.
