The work on Agartala-Akhaura international rail link is expected to be completed by 5-6 months with 88% of the work completed, said transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday.
Chowdhury, who recently visited Charipara in West Tripura to oversee the railway project on Wednesday, said that the work is going in full swing from Badharghat to Nischintapur stretching 15-km on the Indian side.
“Once the project work is completed with the operation of train service from Tripura connecting Bangladesh, trade with the Bangladesh nation will be boosted with which the state of Tripura will reach a significant position in terms of trade and commerce and job opportunities for the unemployed youths,” he told reporters on Wednesday during his visit to 'Puspavanta Palace' here at Agartala.
Chowdhury visited Tripura's century-old 'Puspavanta Palace' to oversee the ongoing construction in the palace. The palace is set to be transformed into a national-level museum and cultural center.
