Third phase of children vaccination Mission Indradhanush will begin from December 7 throughout Dhalai district and it will continue till December 16. Chief Medical Officer of Dhalai district Saradindu Reang said this at a press conference on December 5.
Describing 80 to 90 percent success of the project in the district Dr. Reang said, the 11 phased project of children vaccination protects children from many fatal diseases.
During the period vaccination will be provided to the children in nine phases and two vaccinations will be provided to the mothers of the children. The rate of success was 60 percent in the first phase and that success was 96 percent in the second phase. It has been expected that the remaining vaccination of the project will be completed on January 2018 if the rate of success reaches up to 80 to 90 percent, said that CMO.
From statistical information it revealed that the population of Dhalai district is 4, 48, 335. Out of the number 518 persons came among 2 years beneficiaries of Mission Indradhanush including 92 pregnant women. The vaccination will be provided at 131 health sub-centres and Anganwadi centers. The ASHA workers will participate in the vaccination along with workers under Health department.
CMO further added that a target has been fixed up to complete the work within stipulated period as the district is situated at remote area. He appreciated the cooperation of anganwadi and ASHA workers to complete the project. He expected that implementation of the project at Longtarai valley and Gandacherra subdivisions would be possible through active participation of workers.
Referring the children will be able to prevent different diseases through vaccination in proper time he stressed on vaccination of children in tribal families who are not interested for vaccination.
