34 relief camps still in function 1158 families affected in Dhalai

AMBASSA:

After the recent flood altogether 34 government relief camps opened in Dhalai district including two at Ambassa, 5 at Kamalpur, 15 at Longtarai Valley and 12 at Gandacherra.

Sources said that paddy field, rubber plantation, power connection, houses and roads heavily damaged by the incessant rain and cyclonic storm in Dhalai. Although some non –government relief camps have also been opened by some clubs and social organizations.

According to government statistics 1158 families have been seriously affected by the recent flood in the district from June 11 to 16. Dhalai District Administration sources reported that 4479 people belong to 1100 families got shelter in the relief camps.

The administration is providing food, drinking water, medicine and other necessary items at the government relief camps. At the same time non-government social workers have handed over cash to the affected peoples of the relief camps.

Meanwhile DM, ADM, SDMs are visiting different relief camps to know problem of people forgetting their sleep at night. At the same time MLA Parimal Debbarma, Chairman of Municipal Council Chandan Bhowmik and leaders of ruling party are keeping contact with dwellers of relief camp from morning to night.

Meanwhile communication through NH-44 and Railway suspended during last few days due to land slide at different places. At the same time land slide is going on at Longtarai, Atharomura Hill areas. The situation of Dhalai, Dalubari and Jawharnagar pukka bridges are serious and National Highway may close at any time again. Similarly conditions of three pukka bridges at Ambassa –Gandacherra Road are serious.
