TSR personnel guard Nanda Gopal Reang detained for killing journalist in Tripura

AGARTALA:

The alleged killer identified as TSR 2nd battalion Personnel Guard of commandant Tapan Debbarma who shot dead senior journalist of a local daily Sudip Dutta Bhowmik at R K Nagar camp today has been detained and is currently under the custody of TSR 2nd battalion quarter guard, said police official this evening.

While talking to www.tripuraindia.com the police official of the R K nagar police station said, “Though he has not been arrested yet but the accused Nanda Gopal reang is currently under the custody of TSR 2nd battalion quarter guard.” Police also said that his service weapon has also been seized after detaining him.

Senior journalist Sudip Dutta-Bhowmik meant to be special investigative reporter of ‘Syandan Patrika’ who visited the TSR 2nd battalion camp this morning is being shot dead allegedly by TSR PG Nanda Gopal Reang infront of the official chamber of battalion commandant Tapan Debbarma.

The IG TSR G S Rao while briefing the incident to the www.tripuraindia.com today evening has said, “There was scuffle between the journalist and other TSR personnel and in between Journalist Sudip was shot dead.”

However, the mortal remains body of the journalist S D Bhowmik is currently in GBP hospital as the post mortem by a specialist doctor is awaited. All the snior journalist of the state of Tripura including the editor of ‘Syandan Patrika’ rushed to the hospital getting an alarm of the incident.

Pradip Dutta-Bhowmik, slain Sudip’s elder cousin and news editor of ‘Dainik Sambad’ is returning from Calcutta by evening flight.
