MLA Sankar Roy handed over a cheque of Rs. 5 lakh to the family of Tabla artist Late Sukanta Chakraborty on behalf of the state government today. MLA Roy visited the house Late Chakraborty at 11 a.m. today. SDM of Sabroom Biplab Das accompanied him during the visit.
Deputy Collector Uttam Das Baishnab, Deputy Director of ICA in South district Manoj Debbarma, social worker Shantipriya Bhowmik, Dipak Das and some other eminent persons also visited the house of Late artist along with the MLA.
Speaking on the occasion MLA Sankar Roy said, “Death of Tabla artist Sukanta Chakraborty is a heart breaking incident. The accused persons will get exemplary punishment” MLA further added that the State Government would stay along with the family of the martyr’s family.
Meanwhile Tanushree Barua Chakraborty wife of Late Sukanta Chakraborty said, “I want death sentence of the accused persons who murdered my husband brutally.” At the same time she appealed to the State Government to provide job to earn livelihood for the family.
An angry mob killed Sukanta brutally when he was busy in announcement against rumor by mike at Kalacherra on June 28. The date of Annaprashan of Shibam Chakraborty, 5 months old son of Sukanta was scheduled in next month. Meanwhile ABVP organized a protest rally from M.M. College of Sabroom today and Kishan Morcha of BJP organized another protest rally in the evening today demanding arrest of all accused persons responsible for murder of Sukanta Chakraborty.
