Souradip Wins Mayor Cup in international Chess Event

AGARTALA:

Young talented chess player of Tripura Souradip Deb today touched another milestone in his short Chess career when he lifted the title in the Under 20 Category ‘B’ of the recently concluded Mayor Cup International Chess tournament at Mumbai.

The tournament which was started from June 4 ended today at Lottery International School where 350 chess players from across the country took part. In the total 7 rounds Souradip won 4 matches while the other 6 matches ended up in draw.

Though in the main event he bagged the 28th place and continued good rating (1981) also. Currently studying at Kunjaban Kendriya Vidyalaya in tenth standard, Souradip Deb got prize money worth Rs 12,000 along with certificate.
