One SI and a driver of Police car injured after a group attack by gamblers under shelter of ruling party when they attempted to arrest the gamblers at Kujamura village when the police were busy in patrolling at Poush Sankranti Mela of Chakmaghat today.
Sources said that SI Shyamal Debnath, Head constable of Khowai District Police Head Quarter and driver Marendra Debbarma injured in the incident. The miscreants also ransacked the police car.
Sources said that SI Shyamal Debbarma rushed to the spot on being informed that the gamblers started gambling party all over the area at the village. The gamblers started to pelting stone on Gypsy car of police as soon as they reached. The glasses of the car broke and the two police staffs injured by rain of stone.
Later the jawans of TSR rescued them and shifted them to Teliamura Hospital. Although the gamblers absconded one of them Sailesh Debbarma caught red handed by TSR. Meanwhile, the BJP leaders of Krishnapur Mandal to release the attacker. But police did not hear their request and sent him to Khowai court.
